Scott R. Oosterveen, MD Scott R. Oosterveen, MD

Dr. Scott Oosterveen was raised in Rochester, NY and graduated from Long Island University the South Hampton Campus. He received his medical degree from SUNY at Syracuse Health Science Center in Syracuse, NY in 1999. He served his residency at Tufts – New England Medical Center in Boston, MA and completed his Gastroenterology fellowship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL in 2006. He also completed an Advanced Endoscopy fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD in 2007.

Dr. Oosterveen is affiliated with the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American Gastroenterology Association. He is board certified in gastroenterology. He has special interests in ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound, pancreatic disease and general gastroenterology.

Dr. Oosterveen is married and has two children. He enjoys spending time outdoors, mountain biking, hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing.

 

Leyla J. Ghazi, MD Leyla J. Ghazi, MD

Dr. Leyla Ghazi is new to the New England area. She grew up in Southern New Jersey and graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1999. She accepted a position as a research assistant at NINDS, National Institutes of Health for one year, before earning her medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC in 2004.

Dr. Ghazi completed her internal medicine residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia and her gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) in Baltimore. After completing her fellowship, she accepted a faculty position at UMMC and Baltimore VA Medical Center in 2010. While there, she specialized in the treatment of patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). She was also Associate Program Director of the GI fellowship program and authored many papers and book chapters pertaining to her topic of interest. She has also presented her research at national meetings across the country.

Dr. Ghazi is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. She has held national and local leadership positions within the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). She is also a member of the American Gastroenterology Association and American College of Gastroenterology.

Dr. Ghazi has a special interest in women’s health in GI, inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, microscopic colitis, and Celiac disease), capsule endoscopy for small intestinal disorders, and perianal GI diseases.

In her personal life, Dr. Ghazi is married and lives with her husband in Bedford. They have a little beagle who acts like the princess of the house. She enjoys traveling, cycling, and cooking.
